This IPL technique is used in our signature IPL Photofacial in Brooklyn. What is the IPL Photofacial treatment?

An IPL Photofacial in Manhattan takes between 30 and 90 minutes to complete. You will be resting comfortably while the device is applied with precision. You will feel a snapping sensation on your skin, which our clients tell us is reasonably easy to experience.

How does an IPL Photofacial work?

Broad-spectrum light pulses are emitted by the handheld device, which enters the deeper skin layers, targeting the melanin and hemoglobin, releasing hyperpigmented cells. The light energy gently heats the inner skin layers, triggering natural collagen regeneration. The light pulses do not harm the surrounding skin tissues, and the recovery is typically fast and uneventful.

Who is a candidate for IPL Photofacial?

Many clients are good candidates for this non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. Those who have darker toned or tanned skin, who take acne medications such as Accutane, use a retinoid cream, or who have severe acne, melasma, a bacterial or viral skin infection, or are pregnant, should not undergo an IPL Photofacial. We perform a medical evaluation to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate.

Preparing for your IPL Photofacial – what to do.

For two weeks before and after your IPL Photofacial in Brooklyn, avoid direct sunlight, taking photosensitive antibiotics, or blood-thinning medications or supplements. Speak with your medical provider before stopping any medications. If you smoke, stop for six weeks before your treatment. Do not apply any retinoid, vitamin C products, alpha or beta hydroxy creams, or undergo a scrub or skin exfoliation or chemical peel two weeks before your IPL Photofacial.

What are the benefits of IPL Photofacial?

An IPL Photofacial, when added to your skincare regimen, can keep your skin refreshed, supple, and dewy. The benefits include:

  • Removes sun spots, freckles, and uneven skin tone.
  • Kills acne-causing bacteria.
  • Triggers natural collagen production for firmer, more youthful skin.
  • Treats uneven or rough skin texture.
  • Treats the uneven skin tone associated with rosacea.
  • Smooths wrinkles, lines, and creases with natural skin regeneration.
  • Easy to experience, non-invasive, non-surgical.
  • Removes visible spider veins.

Results and recovery

After an IPL photo-rejuvenation treatment, your skin will appear red, as if sunburned. The redness fades in the following two to five days in most cases. The dark pigment of sunspots, freckles, or hyperpigmentation could rise to the skin surface and then flake off. You may experience minor skin swelling. To reduce swelling, apply an ice pack on the schedule our skin rejuvenation expert advises. You are free to return to your usual schedule and ensure you stay hydrated to help your body shed damaged cells more swiftly.

When will I see the results?

The first results begin to be visible after about one week and continue to improve over three to six months with a series of treatments. The skin takes some time to produce fresh collagen, with cells turning over about every 30 days. Treatments performed monthly can produce an extraordinary improvement in skin appearance, quality, tone, and texture.
