Non-Surgical Thread Lift in Brooklyn

If you’re looking for a way to improve loose facial skin, jowls, or a face that appears “droopy”, Juno Aesthetics now offers a minimally invasive way to correct these issues with a thread lift — a procedure that requires minimal downtime and gets immediate results.

What is a thread lift?

For over a decade, the thread lift has been getting more and more popular in Asia and Europe. Finally, it’s available in the U.S., and we are excited to offer this service at our Brooklyn and Manhattan offices. A thread lift uses biodegradable PDO or PLLA threads to safely and instantaneously lift loose skin on the face and neck in a quick and convenient treatment.

  • Upper lip (reduction of smoker’s lines with collagen production; reduction of fine lines)
  • Lips (restoration of the contour of lips — lasts much longer than filler)
  • Neck (to tighten skin)
  • Chin (to lift up and reduce skin sagging; reduction of a double chin)
  • Body (can be used in the décolletage, cleavage, stomach, and leg area to tighten skin)

How a thread lift works

A thread lift in Manhattan tightens sagging skin by inserting biodegradable PDO (polydioxanone) or PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) threads into the face and then lifting the skin up by tightening the threads, reducing the appearance of sagging and building collagen at the same time. As a result, the skin starts appearing younger and tighter, with less fine wrinkles and crepe-like skin.

By placing the threads in specific areas of face and neck, Dr. Giyaur can control how much collagen is produced, and where.  In a few months the threads will be gone, but the collagen network remains, resulting in strong, elastic skin and a more youthful appearance.

What to expect during a thread lift procedure

After your face has been cleansed, Dr. Giyaur will use a tiny amount of lidocaine to numb small, pinpoint areas of your face and/or neck where thread will enter. Dr. Giyaur then uses a fine, blunt-tipped cannula to penetrate the skin with the thread in the appropriate area.

She will then lift the skin using the thread. The number of threads used will depend on the amount of correction necessary. Finer threads are used to stimulate collagen production. The procedure is completed in 30 minutes, and from that moment, your body will begin working to restore collagen.

What does a thread lift do?

Restores the youthful V shape

Dr. Giyaur performs thread lifts to help restore the youthful V shape of the face. As we age, gravity takes a toll on our bodies — most notably in the face. You may notice these effects around the eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, jowls, and neck. The result of these changes due to gravity is a longer, more square-shaped face, which tends to look older and saggy. A thread lift allows Dr. Giyaur to lift up the laxity and take a few years off our patients’ faces without adding too much volume. The result is completely natural-looking.

Kickstarts collagen production

A thread lift also safely stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen. When we are young, our bodies produce collagen in abundance. Unfortunately, at about 25 to 30 years of age, collagen production begins to decline — and it decreases even more quickly in women after menopause. Fine lines and wrinkles follow. There’s no way to prevent this collagen decrease; however, there are certain procedures that help trick our bodies into producing more collagen. These procedures include Sculptra, PRP mesotherapy, microneedling, and PDO/ PLLA thread lifts.

Enhancements for a thread lift

Dr. Giyaur sometimes recommends other procedures in combination with thread lifting to achieve optimal results. A thread lift in Manhattan has been FDA-approved o supplement non-surgical rejuvenation techniques such as a liquid facelift with dermal fillers and total face rejuvenation

Thread lift results

Immediately after the procedure, the lifting effects of the threads are noticeable. After around one month following the procedure, you will start to notice rejuvenating effects. The threads have the additional effect of causing the fatty tissue in the face to contract, giving the face a slimmer, tighter, and firmer appearance.

FAQ

Is a thread lift safe?

In the hands of an experienced and highly trained doctor such as board-certified surgeon Dr. Julia Giyaur, a thread lift is very safe. The risks associated with a thread lift are less than those associated with dermal fillers or a surgical facelift. Minor side effects of of a thread lift include bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness, and/or slight asymmetry.

Who is a good candidate for a thread lift?

If you’re interested in a thread lift, we are happy to offer this procedure at our Brooklyn medi-spa. Most patients who choose to undergo a thread lift are in their 30s or older, as this treatment is ideal if you have mild to moderate sagging. We do not recommend this treatment for individuals in their 20s, or for those who have severe facial sagging. If you have severe facial sagging, a surgical option is likely better for you.

Is there anything I should do before having a thread lift?

The day before your treatment, we recommend that you avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, omega fish oils, gingko biloba, and vitamin C/E supplements in order to minimize any bruising from the procedure itself.
