Microneedling in Brooklyn for Glowing Skin

If you’re looking for the next step up from your regular facial, microneedling is a rejuvenation treatment that will keep your skin radiant and smooth for much longer than a simple facial.

What is microneedling?

The fact that “microneedling” contains the word needle makes it sound unnecessarily invasive. In reality, microneedling is actually quite painless and very minimally invasive. The needles are tiny — only about 0.75 to 2.5 mm in length. Microneedling has been designed to induce the skin to build collagen, which results in a more radiant, youthful, glowing complexion.

How microneedling works

There are several ways if which microneedling seems to stimulate collagen production. By creating tiny skin penetrations, the body’s natural healing response is triggered. Your body then recruits growth factors necessary for tissue repair. In the process of repair, a brand-new network of collagen fibers is created.

On top of that, after creating thousands of micropores in your skin, we can apply platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your very own blood to penetrate the skin really well and ramp up collagen production. PRP contains lots of nutrients and growth factors that aid even further with collagen production — and remember, our body’s natural collagen production really slows after 30, so we need all the help we can get!

What to expect in a microneedling treatment

At Juno Medi-Spa, we use a top-of-the-line device that allows us to vary the depth of the microneedles. This means that areas with thicker or thinner skin will be treated according to their depth safely and effectively.

Your skin will be cleansed, and then a strong numbing cream will be applied. While the numbing cream is working, we will draw your blood and process it (if you choose to have PRP done as well). Dr. Giyaur may also recommend doing a PRP plasma lift at the same time for those who desire an even stronger rejuvenating effect.

The hand-held device will be passed multiple times over the skin, making tiny punctures as it goes. After completion of the treatment, you may look a bit scratched-up and red, and you also may have pinpoint bleeding for the rest of the day.

We recommend microneedling to be done regularly do continually build on that collagen. The treatment is quite affordable, and helps lower the need more expensive procedures in the future.

What to expect after microneedling

We recommend that you don’t use anything on your skin for the remainder of the day, even avoiding washing your face. This is to allow the treatment to “set in” and really work.

Any bleeding or scratches after treatment should subside within one day. There is no aftercare — all you need to do is just sit back and relax, and wait for your body to produce collagen.
